How Do I Choose the Right Therapist?

Starting therapy is a very personal choice.  It is important to understand that the specific therapist you choose is central to your experience.

There are differences between individual therapists, and you have several choices. My advice is to speak to a therapist before starting therapy with them and ask them questions based on your needs.

Think about how you chose your best friend, partner, or doctor. Did you choose them because they were the only ones available? The answer is: I hope not.

My wish for you is that you make the choice based on a conversation and a sense of a “good fit.”  Taking the time to foster a relationship is important. The best relationships are those in which someone feels understood and supported.
